Plans are afoot to bring casino gambling to Massachusetts. Governor Deval L. Patrick has just unveiled his grand plans to introduce casino game excitement. He has stated that the idea behind the proposal of casino gambling is to bring some fun and even add to the jobs.

The Governor has proposed ambitious three resort-style casinos. He has promised to release funds to the tune of $450 million. If approved, the provision would be made in yearly state revenues.

According to the governor, he would try to limit the gambling casinos to three, to begin with, one in Southeastern Massachusetts; two more would be set up in Boston or perhaps north of Boston and Western Massachusetts, respectively. He expects over 20,000 jobs to be created and addition of billions to state tax revenue. Half the revenues, he has announced, would be accrued to direct property tax.

The plan, of course, needs to be adopted by the state Legislature. The proposal has invited a mix reaction. A debate is on whether casinos should be allowed in Central Massachusetts. House leaders are still not convinced that casinos should be permitted.

On other hand, there are bidders who have already expressed interest.  MGM Mirage, Harrah's Entertainment and Las Vegas Sands Corp. have evinced interest in the proposal. The early announcement does not comprise any mention of key details like proposed slot allowances and gaming tax rates that are bound to impact their level of interest. They are awaiting further details and try to find out how this process is expected to happen.

The proposal, if given a go ahead by the state Legislature, would clear the path for the first casino opening in less than five years i.e. by as early as year 2012.

The announcement of setting up gaming casinos has created excitement among the casino lovers in Massachusetts. They are excited at the possible opportunity of getting to visit a casino in their vicinity.
