New Casino rules at a review in UK

With the operator's complaints regarding the hard impact of Las Vegas style casinos on the UK casinos, the British High Court has decided to review the rules that envelope new British casinos. The 3 day hearing would take place by 25th May, 2007, in order to allow time for any needed legislative changes to take place before the start of new rules and regulations, that would take effect on 1st September, 2007.

It has been a while since the operators have stressed, on their view about the probable set backs that the existing casinos could face, with the emergence of new and larger casinos, who would be allowed better profitable slot machines, than the ones that prevail in the existing casinos.

With the government plans, still in undetermined state after The House of Lords kicked them out recently, a new 5,000 square meter casino was established to have 1,250 slot machines. In addition, 8 huge casinos were awarded with licenses along with 150 machines, while 8 small casinos were awarded with 80 gaming equipments.

The British Casino Association (BCA) chairman, Penny Cobham, recently stated that, the additional entitlements provided to the 17 newly established casinos will hugely threaten several businesses that are set-up over long years. Therefore, the BCA has asked the British high Court to order the Secretary of State, to review the fresh rules.

The BCA firmly considers that the Secretary of State has flawed in considering and determining the planning for the prevailing casinos, in such a manner that these new rules can cause severe difficulties to the existing ones, due to the impact and lawfulness of the large casinos.
