Slotsland.com been lauded for funding various African aid projects

Slotsland.com, a popular online casino featuring a variety of multi-slot and video poker games, has been lauded for funding various African aid projects, but is best known for the Umodzi-Mbame School and community center they built in AIDS- and poverty-ravaged Malawi. Located in South-East Africa, Malawi is ranked as one of the poorest nations in the world, with its impoverished populace beleaguered by illiteracy, high infant death-rates, acute malnutrition and widespread epidemics. Recently, Slotsland upped the philanthropy ante by launching a new website (http://www.help-malawi-children-charity.org/), allowing people from all over the world to make donations online through secure Paypal accounts. All of the proceeds will go towards the Malawi project, while additional funds will be used to expand the charity to neighboring villages.

The African Project Team has also started boNGO Worldwide (an acronym for "Based On Need-driven Grassroots Ownership"), a non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment and amelioration of independent communities.

In the words of the boNGO Project Team leader: "We've found that projects initiated by locals rather than outside agencies have the best chance to involve the entire community and succeed. Faced with increasing numbers of children orphaned by AIDS, the people of nearby Kantimbanye built several orphanages without assistance. What we've done is help them build a maize mill which will provide an ongoing income to support their work."
