UK Gambling age limit alarms a raise

With the increasing gambling addiction amongst youths under the age bracket of 11-15 (as found in a recent research), England plans to review the gambling age restrictions and regulation, advertising policies, and technological change impacts on online gambling. The gambling age limit should be lifted from 16 to 18 years of age in England, as per the official research reports.

The rising young age gambling addiction is evident, as "Oflot", England's lottery regulator, stated in 1998 that a stunning 75% of children engaged themselves in fruit machines, which alone contributes to 3% of the below age problem gamblers. In addition, it was stated that 1% of these children showed addiction towards scratch card. Comprehensively speaking, today, Britian is the only nation that permits all age children to play on slot machines with jackpot limit of up to £5, and allows buying of scratch cards, lottery tickets, and chance to take part in football pools.

The study was carried out by Conservative head David Cameron's policy commission on social justice, and was directed by a chief gambling professional. With views that gambling addiction at tender age can affect adversely on the children, there are heavy chances of such a revision taking place in the near future.
