The rules of five Card Stud Poker game

The difference between Five Card Stud Poker and 7 Card Stud Poker is that in former, only a single card is dealt face down to each poker player in 5 card stud instead of dealing two & there are second, third & fourth streets plus the River!

  1. The rule to start the game: An ante is placed on the table. All players are required to put in an ante. The card room sets the ante amount.
  2. The rule to deal: The dealer deals each one 2 cards - a door card & hole card from his left.
  3. In the 1st round of betting, each player, except for the one who has made the 'bring-in', may fold, raise or call.
  4. In the 1st round, if all other players choose only to 'call' the 'bring-in', the one who has made 'bring-in' bet has the only chance to check the amount 'brought in'.
  5. In the next round, all players get an opportunity to view their opponents' cards to check the odds of their respective hands & also those of their opponents.
  6. In this round, if two hands have the same value then next betting round commences with the player at dealer's immediate left.
  7. When a third door card is dealt, all players can again get to see their opponents' hands for evaluating the strength of their hands. In the last betting round, each player receives the final door card, & one last chance to check their opponents' hands.

Showdown:

During the showdown, a poker player has an option to fold. If every player, barring one, chooses to fold, the latter wins by default, without an actual showdown.
