7 Card Stud Poker Rules
Let's follow the rules of 7 Card Stud Poker so that you are able to play the game in a correct fashion if you happen to visit any of the UK online poker rooms.
Here, we follow the traditional version in which the poker player with high-hand is declared a winner. The most basic rule of seven Card Stud Poker, as the term suggests, is that a player gets 7 cards. From these 7 cards picked, he or she makes the final hand of 5 cards.
Now, let's follow other basic rules of the game one by one.
- A poker player need not utilise any specific card of the 7 that have been dealt. A player may pick any 5 cards that make the highest hand.
- All poker players have to put in an ante.
- The rule to begin the game: Dealer deals each poker player - one card, face-up, and two cards, down.
- The cards are always dealt from dealer's left.
- From the three cards dealt, a player looks at the hole cards.
- The poker player who has the lowest card (face-up) puts in a small bet.
- The betting goes on - leftward of the player with the lowest card.
- In the betting round, each poker player can raise, call, or choose to fold their cards.
- Once the betting is over, a fresh card (face-up), termed 'the turn', or 'fourth street' is dealt to each poker player.
- A new round of betting takes place. However, it starts with the poker player who has the highest cards showing.
- From 'fourth street' onwards, the poker player with the highest cards showing continues to be the 1st to bet.
In 7 Card Stud Poker, there are seven cards. And out of the respective seven cards, whoever happens to have the best hand, is declared the winner of the pot.
